Carnegie Mellon at a Glance
Carnegie Mellon is a highly selective, co-educational, private university located in Pittsburgh, Pa. We're internationally recognized for our programs in computer science, fine arts, engineering, business and the humanities. Here you'll find a dynamic, intense student body working very hard–and playing hard, too!

Carnegie Mellon Programs and Majors
Our students and professors study and learn together across a wide variety of disciplines–everything from engineering to English to art. And, we have one of the most technologically sophisticated campuses in the country–more than 10,000 computers, a high-speed network that links the campus and opportunities to study and learn technology in every college at the university.

One of the best ways to learn about Carnegie Mellon is to spend time on campus. Our summer pre-college programs will show you what life here is all about from the classroom experience to what's happening on the weekends.

Location
Carnegie Mellon is located five miles from downtown Pittsburgh in the Oakland section of the city. Known as the medical, cultural and educational hub of the surrounding area, Oakland is home to the Carnegie Museum complex, four colleges and universities and the nationally recognized University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Carnegie Mellon's campus is adjacent to two quiet, residential neighborhoods, Shadyside and Squirrel Hill, and is bordered by a 500-acre public park, Schenley Park. Pittsburgh's public transportation system provides easy access to any of the surrounding neighborhoods, and downtown is a short 15-minute bus ride away.
