Drama Courses
The
School of Drama offers separate programs for students wishing to experience
intense, conservatory training in:
Acting
Curriculum: Acting, Movement, Improvisation, Voice and Speech, Audition
Techniques and Dramatic Literature.
Musical Theatre
Curriculum: Acting, Singing, Dance, Improvisation, Audition Techniques
and Dramatic Literature.
Design
and Technical Production
Curriculum:
Basic Design, Scene Painting, Technical Production, Drafting, Stage Lighting
and Dramatic Literature. Design and Technical Production students also
assist in mounting and running the "Summer New Plays Project" productions.
Electives
Students participating in the School of Drama program may choose Directing
or Playwriting as an elective. Private voice lessons are also available for
an additional fee. Please note that these electives fill quickly
and prompt return of the registration sheet provided in the Pre-College
Handbook is suggested.
We will offer a
number of workshops in the evenings to further theatrical training in
specific areas. Previous workshops included Shakespeare,
Feldenkrais technique and tap dancing. Workshop size may
be limited.
Students
are not permitted to drop required courses.
Drama Schedule
Most classes are held from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday,
with a daily lunch break.
Note:
Crew, optional courses and some required courses take place in the evening.
Students are highly encouraged to live on campus. The School of Drama
will not make special class arrangements for commuters.
