Architecture

The study of architecture is an exciting multidisciplinary activity that combines creativity, technical knowledge, historical perspective and social responsibility. The program is structured to give you an introduction to each of these areas and to get an idea of what it would be like to study architecture in a university setting.

The Design Studio is the core course of the program. It combines the skills and knowledge from the other classes with a creative group environment to produce extraordinary solutions to architectural problems. The products of this course can provide portfolio material for future applications to architectural programs. The Drawing, Computer Modeling and Topics in Architecture courses round out the curriculum comprising a full day of study Monday through Thursday. Fridays are reserved for field trips to construction sites, architectural offices and great buildings.

A drawing table and stool are furnished by the school. You are required to supply your own drawing equipment and materials. A list of what to bring will be sent after we receive your application.

At the conclusion of the summer program, you will have a private consultation with a member of the design faculty and a written letter of evaluation of your progress and aptitude in the design studio.

The Pre-College Program runs from June 27 - August 6, 2004. Architecture courses, schedule and fees are detailed in the courses section.

"My summer at the Pre-College program was both invigorating and inspiring! It definitely gave me that needed 'push' to successfully finish high school with a purpose and to get to college as quickly as possible."
